Chiropractic FAQ

Is chiropractic effective?

Chiropractic helps to remove postural imbalances and structural misalignments that can accumulate in our bodies over time. For your body to remain healthy, your nervous system must function well. For your nervous system to function well it must be free of interference. By restoring spinal function through Chiropractic care, nerve interference caused by misaligned vertebrae is eliminated, thus allowing optimal nervous system function and improve your health. Chiropractic works by restoring your own inborn ability to be healthy.

Why should I see a Chiropractor?

Seeing a chiropractor is not only for back pain and neck pain. Chiropractic care is an excellent addition to keep your body at its peak performance through nutrition, adjustments and overall wellness.

What is Subluxation?
When a vertebra becomes misaligned or moves out of its normal position, this is referred to in the chiropractic profession as a subluxation. Subluxations can be caused by a wide range of issues ranging from a minor slip or bump to a car accident or any sudden trauma. When a vertebra is subluxated, it begins to interfere with nerves, blood vessels and everything around it. This pressure comes with a price. The subluxation interrupts the natural pathways the messages sent from the brain down to our body. Humans cannot be subluxated and “healthy” at the same time.

How does chiropractic care work?
Chiropractic is based on the fact the body is self-sustaining and self-healing. The cells of the body are controlled by the brain through its connection via the spinal cord and the vast networks of nerves. When this system is not communicating at 100%, the overall performance of the human body begins declining.

While it is often perceived the chiropractors job is to treat back and neck pain, this is simply a small piece of what the profession really is capable of improving. Chiropractors not only treat soft and hard tissue problems such as sciatica and joint pain, but Chiropractic significantly improves issues including fibromyalgia, allergies, insomnia, headaches and many more.

What is a chiropractic adjustment? Is it safe?
Adjustments, are a sequence of small movements of vertebrae in the spine. The objective of these movements is to realign vertebrae to normal balance to insure the brain and body can properly communicate.

Without proper alignment and flow of all nerves and systems in the body from the brain, we cannot function at our best.

What can I expect from my visit to a chiropractor?
Going to the Chiropractor is a new experience for many of us. Your first visit to the chiropractor will really be about getting to know the chiropractor and discussing your problem, your history, and determining whether chiropractic care is appropriate for you.

What results can I expect from treatment?

If you have ever been in a car accident, played a sport, fell down or just bumped into something too hard, it's very possible that you are not functioning at your best due to a misalignment. Allowing a chiropractor to get you back on track both chemically and structurally will bring your body back to the proper state it should be in to perform at its peak.

Results vary in each individual based on how long the problem has been present and on the current, overall health status of person. If you have had a joint problem for years or you have multiple health conditions (i.e. heart, obesity, diabetes, bone density, etc.) it will obviously take longer to restore your health than a person who does not suffer from those ailments. Regardless of your history or your current health status, everyone is better off when their subluxations are corrected.

Having proper nervous system function always gives you the best ability to improve your health and maximize your performance in all areas of life.
